Values in a Cohesive Society – video animations

A partnership project with the Voluntary Organisations Development Agency

In early 2010 we will be working in partnership with VODA and a wide range of public and voluntary sector organisations to produce short animations about key values needed in a cohesive community. It is hoped that these video animations will be used by a wide range of educators to stimulate dialogue about these key values. So why do this work? Without a consensus about the meaning and importance of these values, there is a risk that communities will live parallel lives. Developing a consensus about how people can honour these core values is important work because it contributes towards developing a shared vision and sense of belonging. It will also identify what communities have in common and the process will support people to build strong and positive relationships. It is hoped that the film output of this project will have a multiplier effect and take these values to a much wider community.

“values are what builds a community and holds it together …. It’s like a tower of cards … when you take one away the whole thing falls down” Emma 19 year old

The animations will be compiled on a DVD, premièred at a Showcase Event, at youth, education, public and strategic meetings, and entered into national film competitions. The purpose of this is to stimulate dialogue across a much wider audience.
