Coping with Diversity - a working conference in The Lebanon

The Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) is an organisation shared and resourced by over 40 Euro-Mediterranean countries, to bring people together as a way of promoting dialogue between cultures and respect for diversity.

Turning Tides are partners within the ALF network and were invited along with delegates from countries within the Euro-Mediterranean region to attend a working conference in Beirut, The Lebanon in May 2009. One aim of this conference was familarise participants with a new and innovative resource called How to cope with Diversity at School (John Keast, Pascaille Mompoint-Gaillard, Eric Hellicar and Dr Wafa Al Sawaftah). This resource provides a way to communicate shared values to young people across 43 countries and for young people to learn about Religious Diversity. Another important part of this workshop was to develop a network of people who could then cascade the use of this resource in 42 different countries.

We are presently working with a partnership of schools from the UK, Egypt, Morroco and the Netherlands to look at how this resource can be used in schools. If you would like to explore how this resource could support learning in your organisation, then please contact us.
